Jānis Zābers International Vocal Competition will take place in three rounds from September 13th to 17th, 2023, in Riga (Latvia). It is open to academic music singers of any country, within the age of 10 to 35 years. The competition is held to commemorate the famous Latvian singer Jānis Zābers, and at the same time to provoke an interest towards the academic singing and to facilitate the professional growth of young singers. In March 2022, media representatives and interested parties will be invited to the conference of the Jānis Zābers International Vocal Competition to look back at the competition and present the jury, repertoire and program of the second competition.
The program of the competition is rooted in the creative biography of Jānis Zābers, and the contestants must be able to prove themselves in a variety of music genres and forms, playing the vocal music sung by our great compatriot – folk songs, chamber music, romances, arias, Neapolitan songs, as well as pop and children’s songs.
